Course Description
Game Development is a fun, creative approach that naturally encourages children to test their skills, creativity, and focus using unfamiliar technology. In this course, children get to experience what it is like to design an original video game, including the storyline, artwork, and gameplay mechanics. kids learn to code through a simple drag-and-drop visual interface, lowering the barriers to learning for those who are not yet proficient with using a keyboard and allowing the more experienced programmer to advance quickly.
In this gaming challenge, we invite our game developer students to submit an original game design by incorporating themes related to the UN SDGs, for example, peace and sustainability, alternative energy, climate change, social issues, education, or global citizenship.
In this course, students will:
Implement Design Thinking Steps
Learn programming concepts, defining variables, and using functions
Invent new games and Apps using block-based programming languages
Code a character to move about
Sequences, loops, and events
Record, edit and add music
Increase complexity with Conditions and Variables
Add timers, life counters, and scores
Broadcast messages
Test and debug using logic and systematic reasoning
